Social Butterfly Foundation Successfully “Wings” Miami  

Social Butterfly Foundation’s first event an overwhelming success

Social Butterfly Foundation hosted two events on August 13, 2011 to raise backpacks and school supplies for foster children in Miami. The two events were a success with participants donating over 50 backpacks along with hundreds of school supplies.

“We are so grateful to the community for their outpouring of support and excitement for the cause,” Ingrid Mejia Social Butterfly Foundation’s founder said, “it is truly a symbol of what this community has to offer.”

The first event was a bike ride in conjunction with Emerge Miami, where participants rode a 10 mile course with wings to gain awareness and promote the school supply drive.  Local and national companies located in Midtown Miami contributed gifts and time towards the cause.     

The second event was the “Wing Walk”, where Social Butterfly Foundation provided wings to the art walk participants for a suggested donation. The goal was to raise money for the supply drive and increase awareness of the need for mentoring and arts awareness amongst the youth.

"The environment of Wynwood Art Walk is exactly what we are working to promote.” Mejia explained “It was encouraging to see that our organization’s goals were so well received by the community that we wish to foster.”

Social Butterfly Foundation will donate the supplies to His House Children's Home & Children's Home Society and looks forward to future partnerships with this and other foster care organizations. The next event will be their next volunteer orientation to be held on September 3, 2011.

Social Butterfly Foundation is looking to raise awareness to gain support and volunteers in order to continue to grow their mentoring program and expand the support of the local art community. Social Butterfly Foundation Swarms Miami For A Good Cause  

Social Butterfly Foundation hosts “Butterflies on Bikes” and “Wing Walk” to raise awareness for Foster Care Youth Mentoring

Social Butterfly Foundation announces two exciting events: “Butterflies on Bikes” & “Wing Walk” both held on August 13, 2011.

Butterflies on Bikes is 10 mile morning cycle ride for cause. Each cyclist will wear brilliantly coloured butterfly wings to raise awareness for foster care youth mentoring and participate in a school supply drive. Cyclists will meet at 10a.m. at Government Center Metrorail Station located at 111 NW 1^st St  and ride to Lime Fresh Mexican Grill in the Shops at Midtown. Refreshments will be served and cyclists will have an opportunity to purchase and donate backpacks for the back to school supply drive.

Wing Walk is an evening event where supporters will wear butterfly wings and swarm Wynwood’s Art Walk to increase awareness and support local community cultural arts. The group will meet at Wynwood Walls, located on 2^nd Ave between 25^th and 26^th street at 7PM where Butterfly Wings will be distributed. Social Butterfly encourages everyone to join them for their involvement in this cultural event and help spread the word about their cause, all while having a good time. Donations will be accepted for supporters wishing to participate in the Wing Walk.

Emerge Miami & W-Girls are both fantastic organizations that have joined the Foundation in this initiative. “The goal of our events is to increase awareness of the need for foster care mentoring and raise resources for the foster care population it serves. We want the community to see the enthusiasm we all have for this cause.” States Ingrid Mejia, Founder of Social Butterfly Foundation.

Together with the Board of Directors & Volunteers Social Butterfly Foundation aims to better Miami, implementing the group’s social skills and cultural arts awareness programs among the city’s foster care youth.

Ride for Cause & Wing Walk

Give a Child Her Wings - August 13th 2011

Be part of two fun and exciting events! Ride for Cause & Wing Walk on August 13th!

What's the Cause? Our Give a Girl Her Wings campaign, is a Back Pack and School Supplies drive for children in group foster care homes.

In the morning Cyclists from Emerge Miami & the Community will ride 10 Miles in Miami on August 13th with brilliantly colored butterfly wings to raise awareness.

In the Evening Volunteers from the Community will participate in a Wing Walk at Art Walk in Wynwood!

We will have a donation booth set up with face painting and volunteers will raise awareness by wearing thier Butterfly Wings!

For both events (Midtown Miami Ride for Cause and Wynwood Wing Walk) we need help contacting each of the store vendors to seek participatin interest.

We need a street team to hand out flyers to encourage cyclists to participate in the ride prior to event.

We need a street team to hand out flyers during wing walk (with beautiful wings) to hand out flyers to raise awarness about our program.

We need volunteers for the day of the event to accept donations of school supplies and back packs (at tent)

Our Community Cares - July 2011 Orientation

Thank You for caring about our children in Foster Care and making a difference. Our girls need the stability of a mentor in their lives.
