Social Butterfly Foundation has partnered with Volunteer Broward, with UBS (sponsors of Art Basel)  Miami International University School of Art & Design, Art Center Miami, Purvis Young, and Arsht Center Peacock Center to mentor 12 children between the ages of 13 - 18 with 4 Art Workshops! 

The program will have a series of 4 Saturday Art within Miami's Cultural Arts Community and Historic Landmarks.

Instruction will be provided by MIU Students and Professional Artist in various art mediums.

Each Art Mentee also be paired with a Social Butterfly Foundation Mentor that will coach the mentee through the program (and assist with transportation where needed).

Workshop Schedules are Below:

  • Workshop #1 Saturday, October 15th – Program Launch/Workshop #1 @ Virginia Key Beach
  • Workshop #2 Saturday, October 29th – Purvis Young Museum in Wynwood
  • Workshop #3 Saturday, November 5th –  Peacock Education Center @ the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts
  • Workshop #4 Saturday, November 19th – Art Studio Miami
  • Exhibition  Thursday, December 1 – Sunday, December 4th – Exhibition – Miami International University Art and Design
Workshop Curriculum will include art education, art instruction, and community involvement. Project work will be inspired by the history of the community where the workshops are held with a Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow theme. The Mentoring Program will culminate with a show exhibiting the work completed by the students and mentors surrounding UBS' Miami Beach Art Basel (A satellite exhibit at MIU).
